Ingredients

8 black tea bags  (steeped in 4 cups of water for 5 minutes, for the tea)
1 pound strawberries, hulled and halved
1 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup fresh basil, plus more for serving
Ice

Directions

  1. Prepare the black tea and set aside.
  2. Bring 1 cup of water and 3/4 cup sugar to a boil in a small saucepan.  Stir until sugar dissolves. 
  3. Remove from heat, add basil, and let steep for 10 minutes.
  4. Strain basil syrup over strawberries.  Discard basil and toss to coat. 
  5. Combine berries (with syrup) and tea in a pitcher. 
  6. Refrigerate until chilled.  Serve over ice and garnish with basil.
